Our Team
STaiMIC is assembling the human infrastructure to match the ambition of its science.
Susan Nasif O-Adorisio, PhD
Founder and CEO
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of STaiMIC. PhD biomedical scientist from KU Leuven, with 20+ years of experience across antiviral R&D, vaccinology, and applied AI in medicine. Advances translational AI and multiomics for underserved communities across Southern Europe, MENA, and beyond. Has led programmes commissioned or funded by the European Commission (DG SANTE), the pharmaceutical industry, and leading Italian academic medical centres, including Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli IRCCS, spanning clinical research, digital health, and community outreach. Appointed contributor to the WHO/EU Innovation Platform for Digital and Tech Innovation and the BioExpert Network. Active member of SIIAM and several Italian, British, and European groups focused on AI innovation in healthcare and life sciences. Honoured invited speaker and chair at international STEM conferences.
Dmitry Sergeev, MD, MSc, Phd
Lead, Clinical data for STaiMIC
Leads clinical data for STaiMIC's OncoOmix program. At the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ), he has led several research projects — one honoured by Stiftung LebensBlicke — with publications in top-quartile journals (IF >6.2) and three international conferences, while performing a Heidelberg PhD focused on colorectal cancer screening: the exact disease OncoOmix targets. Curently he is involved in the management of the eight-centre Prostate cancer trial, and his applied AI sampling design at Radboud UMC, Netherlands, cut clinical-validation workload by ~90% for breast cancer screening. Add Health Technology Assessment training (UMIT Tirol, Austria) for payer-and regulator fluency, an MD from Sechenov University, Moscow, an MSc in Epidemiology with top grade from Charité Berlin, and operating fluency in English and Russian with working German. This profile is genuinely hard to replicate.
Angelo Varlotta, MSc, MBA
Lead, STaiMIC Institute
Leads the STaiMIC Institute. He has an interdisciplinary background spanning life sciences, artificial intelligence, and business strategy. Holds an MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence from the Open Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Bari. His academic training allows him to bridge the gap between technical data work and real-world business decisions. He also holds an MSc in Biology from the University of Urbino and a 2nd-level Master's in Cytogenetics from Roma Tre, where he trained at the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital in Rome. This foundation in rigorous scientific thinking continues to inform his analytical approach. Beyond his professional work, he is a committed volunteer with Neuromatch Academy, where he has served as Professional Development Co-Chair for both the 2024 and 2026 editions. In this role, he coordinates seminars, mentors, and career development activities across Neuromatch, Climatematch, NeuroAI, and Deep Learning courses, with a particular focus on supporting students from underrepresented communities. He has also served as a Course Instructor for the Impact Scholars Program, delivering mentorship training on communication, goal-setting, and psychosocial skills. He combines technical expertise with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for making science and data accessible to everyone.
